What Is a Dental Crown?

A crown is a custom-made cap that fits over a damaged or weakened tooth. It restores the tooth's shape, strength and appearance — protecting it from further damage.

Types of Crowns

All-Ceramic / Porcelain

Best natural colour match. Ideal for front teeth and patients with metal allergies.

E-Max

Lithium disilicate. Strong and highly aesthetic. Zirconia — Extremely durable and biocompatible.

Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal

Natural appearance with metal strength. May show a dark line at the gum over time.

Gold

Highly durable. Best for back teeth under heavy bite forces.

The Process

01

Consultation

Your dentist examines the tooth and discusses options.

02

Preparation

The tooth is reshaped under local anaesthetic.

03

Impressions

A mould or digital scan is taken and sent to the lab.

04

Temporary Crown

Placed while your permanent crown is being made.

05

Fitting

The final crown is cemented in place and adjusted for comfort.

Pricing

Crowns from £595.
Porcelain (E-Max) from £700.
Zirconia from £700.
Gold from £900.
